Global free trade and ASEAN Economic Community bring a massive effect to almost all sector in Indonesia, such as trading, tourism, and manufacturing. Impact of the free trade is the emergence of severe competition situation. In term of worker competition, a country that has more competitive human resources may win the scramble easily. While countries those have low quality of human resources must hardly struggle event for just joining the game. In order to face the challenge, Engineering Faculty UNS requires an international accreditation for all its engineering educational program simultaneously and sustainably thus the process can be run effectively with budget efficient. International accreditation is an urgent requirement. State university as well as private, all competing to catch the opportunity for embracing the future. In line with the situation, on Monday, March 26th 2018, Engineering Faculty held The Socialization of Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE), which invited Ir. TMA. Ari Samadhi, Ph. D., Secretary-General of IABEE, as the speaker.
IABEE is an independent non-profit organization which established as a part of Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) to cultivate quality oriented culture in managing the engineering education program. The culture can be achieved through an assurance that an Engineering Education Program must comply a certain minimum standard and implement continuous quality improvement. The official name of IABEE, made in English language, is Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education.
IABEE approved by Kementrian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi (KEMENRISTEKDIKTI), as a body which responsibles for accreditation for education programs those provide academic titles in engineering, technological, and computational fields. National level accreditation is a mandatory for programs which produce graduates according to the law in Indonesia. While the International level accreditation from IABEE is an optional for education programs where the feasibility for undergoing the accreditation process will be determined by their national accreditation ranking.
IABEE was built under supervising of JABEE (Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education), which has been incorporated in the signer of Washington Accord, a multilateral agreement which regulates the equality of independent accreditation institution in the worldwide for engineering education.
