Faculty of Engineering UNS was established since March 11, 1976, together with the establishment of Sebelas Maret University. The existing one new study program is Civil Engineering with the First Dean Ir. RPM Kasifudin then successively Ir. Ismoyo PH, Ir. Sahudi, Ir. Bambang Suseno, Ir. Djoko Kuntjoro, Ir. Supardi, Ir. Sumaryoto, M.T., and Ir. Mukahar, M.S.C.E. Starting from 2011 to 2014, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNS is held by Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T. The legal basis for the establishment of Sebelas Maret University is Kep. Pres No. 10 in 1976. At that time the name of this college is Surakarta State University Eleven March. And based on Kep. Pres No. 55 years 1982 name of Surakarta State University March Elelas Sebelas Maret University.
Until the Academic Year 1979/1980 Faculty of Engineering is still implementing the Bachelor of Education program, and with the issuance of Government Regulation no. 5/1980 on Organizational Structure of University / State University, starting in 1980/1981 of the Faculty of Engineering, Sebelas Maret University implemented Bachelor Program (S-1) Department of Civil Engineering and followed by opening of Department of Architecture. In the Academic Year 1994/1995 the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture Department held a Non-Regular S-1 Program.
In the academic year 1998/1999 the Faculty of Engineering held 3 (three) new Departments namely Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, based on Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education Number 53 / DIKTI / Kep / 1998 dated 23 February 1998, next academic year 1999/2000, based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 33 / DIKTI / Kep / 1999 dated 17 February 1999, the Faculty of Engineering held Diploma III Program of Mechanical Engineering and Diploma III Program of Civil Engineering, and academic year 2000/2001 held Diploma Study Program III Chemical Engineering based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number 36 / DIKTI / Kep / 2000 dated February 25, 2000 and in the academic year 2006/2007 opened the S-2 Program of Civil Engineering and S-1 Regional and Urban Planning (PWK) with SK. Number: 1185 / D / T / 2006 dated April 12, 2006.
Up to Academic Year 2011/2012 the number of students enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering Sebelas Maret University as many as 2793 students consisting of Regular S-1 Program 1,617 students, Non-Regular S-1 program 146 students, S-1 Swadana Transfer program 220 students and Diploma 677 students.
Up to the graduation period June 2012 The Faculty of Engineering UNS has graduated as many as 6,893 graduates, consisting of Civil Engineering 3,068, Architecture 1,597 undergraduate, Industrial Engineering 408 graduate, Mechanical Engineering 291 undergraduate, Chemical Engineering 331 undergraduate and Urban and Regional Planning 22 undergraduate. For Non-Regular S-1 programs graduate: Civil Engineering 525 undergraduate, Architecture 114 undergraduate, Industrial Engineering 266, Mechanical Engineering 107 undergraduate and Chemical Engineering 140 scholars. While from the Diploma Program III has graduated as many as 2,550 middle experts consisting of Industrial Machinery Engineering 392 people, Mechanical Engineering Production 297 people, Mechanical Engineering Automotive 275 people, Civil Engineering Building 467 people, Civil Engineering Transport 217 people, Civil Engineering Urban Infrastructure 135 people and Chemical Engineering 690 people.
