UNS to Host KRTI 2021

FT- UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta becomes the host of the Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) 2021. The final round of this annual competition will be last for seven days, November 15-20, 2021. Within a week, the participants will contend at the Auditorium of GPH Haryo Mataram UNS.

KRTI is a competition held by the National Achievement Centre (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). In this year, KRTI 2021 will organize four divisions: Racing Plane (RP), Fixed-Wing (FW), Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL), and Technology Development (TD).

This competition is chaired by Prof. Dody Ariawan, a professor of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS who also serves as the Deputy Dean 1 FT UNS. Prof. Dody said that the purpose in organizing KRTI 2021 is to provide a platform where the students can create an innovative design in aerodynamics field, especially in the field of flying robot.

“KRTI 2021 is also organized as a medium to share information, develop knowledge that relates to flying robots, and start new networking between the public community, students, observers, researchers, and robot enthusiasts,” explained Prof. Dody.

According to Prof. Dody’s explanation, 163 teams of 61 universities will be competing in KRTI 2021. The participants come from various provinces throughout Indonesia, for example, Sumatera, Batam, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and North Maluku.

In KRTI 2020, the theme of each division is different and more specific. RP division raises a theme of “F.A.T (Fast and on Track)”, which means fastest on an eight-shaped track (figure-of-eight). FW division uses a theme of “Delivery of Emergency Packages in Quarantine Area”. Meanwhile, the division of VTOL has a theme of “QR-code based Fast Response and Accurate Shipment Delivery”. Last but not least, the TD division raises a theme of “Innovate UAV Technology”.

Before the final event started, the participants of TD, FW, and RP divisions need to submit several requirements. The participants of the TD division are required to submit the presentation file and the progress video. The participants of the FW division should hand the NOTAM copy, GCS position coordinate, and dropping zone position in the Latitude-Longitude format. Meanwhile, the participants of the RP division need to submit the document and video according to the format specified in the manual book. Those requirements shall be done no longer than November 12, 2021, at 11:59 PM WIB.

The activities on the first day (11/15) are the participants registration, technical meeting, opening ceremony, participants parade, and flight test. Afterward, from 16 to 20 November, the participants of four divisions will show their best idea of flying robots. On the last day of the competition (11/20), the closing ceremony will be held and the winner will be announced.

In addition to being the host of KRTI 2021, four teams of UNS manage to pass the selection and will compete in the final round of KRTI 2021. The UNS teams are the Shankara team (VTOL), Ernesti team (RP), Bamantara team (FW), and Prigi Baswara team (TD).
